Follow these rules at licensing station

No shortcuts, says police.

Regardless of several first hand accounts in the media as well as regular warnings by the Florida Police, visitors at the Roodepoort Licensing Station still fall for the scams of loitering criminals.

Florida Police station once again issued a warning asking the public to follow three rules:

1. There are no shortcuts to any process at the licensing centre, you can only obtain what you need by queuing and following the normal processes – ask the staff inside for more info. People may approach you (some dressed in what seems to be a security uniform) and offer to queue for you or speed up the obtaining of your license, they then take your documents and money and never return. Elderly and women on their own are their usual targets.

2. Be aware of the area around the caravan where photographs are taken as several handbags and other items have been stolen from people in the vicinity. Please first check with the staff inside the centre whether the application you are making requires you to purchase photos as some photos are done inside the centre now.

3. Golden rule: Do not take advice from any person except the staff members inside the centre.
