Golden Reef’s 100 Miler on it’s way

The 100 Miler will start at 4pm on 23 October and the cut off time is 24 October at 6pm.

The Golden Reef Running Club will be hosting its 34th edition of the 100 Miler this month. The historic event will take place at the Hoërskool Florida sports fields.

The 100 Miler will not be the only event as a four member relay team event, 16 kilometre Friday night circuit race and the Mike Wilmot 12 hour circuit race will also take place.

Golden Reef Running Club chairman Cassie Carstens has taken the opportunity to invite clubs from around the West Rand to participate.

“We are inviting everyone who wants to participate in the racing or wants to support the runners. Everyone is welcome. This event is always a success as it’s one of the oldest 100 Mile races in the country,” he said.

It will cost individual novices R600 to participate while individual pre-finishers will pay R500.

In the relay event, which starts on 23 October at 6pm with a cut off of 6pm the following day will cost R800.

The next to kick off will be the Friday night circuit race at 6.15pm with a cut off time of 3.45am at a cost of R50.

At 5.45am on 24 October the final race, the 12 hour circuit race will begin and will cost R250.
