Tammy van Loggerenberg writes on behalf of her daughter AJ:

Hello everybody. I am AJ. I am 3-years-old and I represent the Little Citizen Academy, Wilropark. I am a child of this country. I am the innocence of this country. I am the hope of this country. I am the future of this country. Today I want to be the voice of all the children of this country.

I am on a mission!! I am putting on my superhero cape and I want the entire Johannesburg to do the same.

Today’s mission is to ask for help for my friends. Some of my friends “whom I have not yet met” are struggling. I call them my friends because we have not yet been touched by the past, by politics, by racism.

We do not discriminate. We do not see colour. We do not need to be taught colour, we do not need to be taught racism, instead, today, us little people would like to teach the community, empathy, unconditional love, and to stand together, regardless of history or colour.

My mission today is to make people of JHB aware of those who are not as blessed and fortunate as us. I am on a mission to let every South African take a minute and think “How can I help?”

Myself and my fellow Little Citizen Academy princess and princesses are all taking a stand. We are standing tall “as short as what we are” in the hope that all people reading/listening to this will stand with us. Feel like a Superhero for a minute and make a difference.

There are so many projects we are going to be working on, but today we are asking for assistance for the Abraham Kriel Kinderhuis /Children’s Home in Nylstroom. Our mission today is to get some funding and assistance for them.

They have in excess of 170 kids. We know there are many Children’s Homes that are in dire straits but we have to start somewhere. We are pleading for the assistance of Johannesburg as they have come together so many times before in good spirit to assist where they can to help those in need.

And please, if anyone listening to this cannot help us with our mission, take a moment to assist someone in your area. I have attached a list of their emergency shortages.

My charity work starts here, but I cannot do this alone, please people, I am only 3-years-old, so help me to help the little kids that cannot be heard.

Some of my other duties include:

1. Singing carols and perform for senior citizens

2. The Abraham Kriel charity drive

3. Makes Valentine cards for senior citizens

4. Do a collection drive for toys, kids crafts, Dvd’s and games for children in hospitals (cancer, HIV, Burn victims etc.)

5. Decorate place-mats for meals on wheels.

6. Hold a “dog wash” day to collect funds for animal shelters

7. Volunteer at an animal shelter

8. Collect soft toys for the Fire Brigade, police station and ER 24 to give to kids in emergencies

9. Do a winter drive to collect food and warm clothes and blankets for the homeless shelters

It is time. Today is the day that we make a difference!
