Explosives, guns and a police truck in a ditch

Two busts within an hour.

Roodepoort Police had two successes in short succession this afternoon.

A routine inspection at an illegal mining site led to the arrest of one suspect who was found with three firearms. Explosives was also found on the site. While the police were keeping a close eye on a bulldozer which was busy filling up entrances to the illegal mines, they received a call that West Suburbs Roodepoort Neighbourhood (WSRNW) was chasing four suspected house breakers in a bakkie from Witpoortjie on Main Reef Road.

While in pursuit of the suspects they contacted the police who waited for them on Main Reef Road. The bakkie careened of the road and the suspects fled by foot. A police officer in a police truck chased them but drove into a ditch. One suspect was apprehended
