Heartbreak at Cecil Payne

The Mustangs will now face Pirates in the final of the league next weekend.

It was a disappointing end to the weekend as two West Rand baseball teams were dumped out in the semi-finals of the Major Reserve League.

Playing at Cecil Payne Sports Groud, Pirates Baseball Club from Greenside faced off against Raiders Baseball Club from Bosmont in the first match of the day.

Pirates got off to a flier as they raked up the points with superb teamwork, getting their players home while the Raiders struggled with numerous fielding errors.

As the game wore on however, Raiders started to pick themselves up and get back into the game but it was too late.

Pirates managed to hold on for a 12-10 victory to seal their spot in the final.

It was then the turn of Cobras Baseball Club to take to the field as they played against Mustangs Baseball Club.

The tough encounter had fans in a frenzy as both teams were neck and neck until the final frame of the match where Mustangs raked up four points to beat Cobras 11-8.
