Serial dog killer on the loose?

Second resident in same area who receives threats.

Recently Wilro Park resident Thembi Thulare of Wilro Park nearly lost her two adorable Daschunds to a dog poisoner.

When she saw the article in the Roodepoort Record two weeks ago about another Wilro Park woman who receives continues threatning letters in the post regarding her dogs, she got suspicious. Since late 2014 Thulare has been receiving threatening letters regarding her two dogs’ alleged incessant barking.

“My dogs are small and not very loud. They also do not bark excessively. I even went around and asked my neighbours but non of them complained,” said Thulare who keeps her dogs in one area that is almost inaccessible to any would-be pet terrorist.

But the writer of the threatening notes, that started out as friendly requests, started turning nasty in later letters wanting to know in one of the last “what kind of douchbags live here? Are you deaf or ignorant?”. The writer then made good on his or her threats and on 26 August poisoned both dogs. Luckily her children came upon the frothing dogs and phoned their mom who in return phoned the Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty (SPCA) for advise. They instructed her to quickly feed the dogs burnt toast and milk which saved their lives.

“Only one of my neighbours has a certain animosity towards me but this case is very similar to the other resident’s. It is like there is a serial dog killer on the loose,” concluded Thulare.

Any residents who are also receiving threats regarding their dogs can contact the Record on 011 955 1130.
