The green lawns of Witpoortjie Bowling Club hosted this year’s Men’s and Women’s Trips Championship.

The Sables Bowling Association event saw scintillating finals.

In the men’s final, Mervyn Lynn Jnr along with Morgan Muvhango and Mervyn Lynn Snr from Discovery Bowling Club competed against and beat Craig Nicol, Andrew Furman and Arthur Williams from Leases Bowling Club.

In the Women’s final, Rustenburg Impala’s Susan and Angela Nel and Lia Venter were victorious against Nici Neal, Vashti Matthews and Karen Gerber from Leases Bowling Club.

Just the day before the competition started, Witpoortjie held the Annual General Meeting where George Nysschen was elected president along with a new executive committee.

“The competition went well and we are proud to have hosted it. I would like to congratulate the new committee and wish them to have a successful year with the club,” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by Sables Bowling Association’s Graeme Morton who commended Witpoortjie for hosting such a successful competition without any glitches.

“On behalf of the association I would like to say thank you very much for a job well done,” he said.
