Tornado aunties knit for Madiba Day

Residents of Tornado Park Retirement Village knitted blankets in celebration of the upcoming Mandela Day and 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela.

Residents of Tornado Park Retirement Village including Glorida le Fevre who is blind, knitted blankets in celebration of the upcoming Mandela Day and 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela.

This innitiative was started after Sandra Kruger and Christall Lamprecht from JTI approached Elmarie van der Merwe and Marsha Danielz, who have been conducting Bible study classes at the retirement village for 15 years.

JTI would supply the residents of the retirement village with wool and they would knit squares for blankets.

They were approached by from JTI to knit squares for blankets if they were to supply wool.

The retirement village will donate 67 blankets to the Nelson Mandela foundation while the rest of the blankets will be auctioned off and the money will be put back to the village.
