Have a martini

"Happiness is...finding two olives in your martini when you are hungry." - Johnny Carson

So, it is Friday and what better way to unwind is to drink a martini?

Ever year on 19 June, adults get together and celebrate National Martini Day.

If you do not drink alcohol, you can still enjoy a “virgin” martini that can be mixed with your favourite juice and fruits.

Martinis come in different flavours and you can mix it with whatever strong drink you prefer.

There are many different ways martinis can be served but here are a few:

• On the rocks – The ingredients are poured over ice cubes and served.

• Dirty martini – Olive brine or olive juice is added to the martini and garnished with an olive.

• Dry martini – splash of dry vermouth.

• Caribbean martini- Vodka, coconut rum and a splash of pineapple juice is mixed and poured over ice.

James Bond had preferences about having his martini shaken, not stirred.

What is your preference?
