Discovery Community Forum holds AGM

Residents not detered by cold.

On the chilly evening of 3 June the Discovery Community Forum (DCF) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Florida Police presented the standard crime report for the area to the members present. Thereafter the financial state of the forum were presented by Sue Tyson, the treasurer, and Hennie Matthews gave a report on the state of the forum’s patrollers group as well as details regarding the equipment that have been purchased over the past year. He also elaborated on what Dave Holsthausen (Joint Block Watch Captain) and himself foresee for the patrollers in the coming year.

The chairperson, John Gafney, gave a brief report on the activities of the past year and thanked the committee for the work they do under “sometimes trying circumstances”. An Honorary Membership Award was presented to Averille Botha for her total commitment to community outreach and assistance to disadvantaged people in the community.

The meeting was then handed over to Caleb Finn of the Florida Community Policing Forum Executive Committee, who handled the nomination and election of new members to serve on the DCF committee in the comming year.

The new committee were welcomed and members of the community were thanked for their attendance. The evening closed off with coffee and snacks for all present.
