Bastion host Florida in hockey

Hoërskool Bastion hosted Hoërskool Florida when their five girls hockey teams faced off against each other yesterday.

The U/14 match was an amazing spectacle for fans of the game.

Bastion’s Tazim Rossouw scored twice with Lee-Ann van Vuuren pitching with a single goal while Florida’s Carmin van Wyk and Elrica Benson scored a goal each.The match ended 3-2 in Bastion’s favour.

In the U/15 match, Zoë van der Plank’s solitary goal was enough to ensure victory for Bastion in a hard fought 1-0 match.

The U/16 match was an even tougher contest between the two teams.

Bastion’s Melissa Nel and team captain Bernice Oosthuizen put their team ahead with a goal each only for Florida’s Ambrè Nel and Rochelle Hudson to draw their team level each time. The match ended 2-2.

The second team match was not even a contest as Bastion’s team captain Cheri-Lee Edwards and Paige Lambert each scored twice to hand their team a 4-0 victory.

The premier teams were the final match of the day. Bastion’s Chantè Scheepers put her team into the lead in the first half. The home side however conceded a penalty and a goal from Florida’s Jessica Powell and Annachè Davies.

The game ended 2-1 in favour of Florida.
