Ward 83 to hold public meeting

The rights of communities to be involved in local governance.

DA councillor Suzanne Clarke has called on the residents in her ward, Ward 83, to participate in a Public Meeting on 10 June.

“South Africa has a well, established policy and legal framework for public participation and empowerment. Section 152 of the Constitution confirms a number of citizen rights and more specifically, the rights of communities to be involved in local governance,” said Clarke.

“In accordance with the National Framework, municipalities are obliged to encourage the involvement of communities and community organizations in local government,” she said.

She wants to extend an invitation to residents of Breaunanda Extension, Helderkruin, Roodekrans and Wilropark to join her and her Ward Committee where the Ward Committee Members will give a report back on issues which concerns the community and engage with the community.

The meeting will take place at Klein Helderkruin on the corner of Graphite and Ouklip Streets at 6.30pm
