City Parks drives resident up the tree

At wrong address twice.

When Nadia McIntyre came home early in the evening on Saturday night she was not only surprised to see City Parks still working but that the contractors were actually pruning the Pepper Tree in front of her house.

She immediately went to confront them demanding to see the job card which they only handed over after a lengthy argument. Although the job card clearly stated the trees in front of numbers 1, 3 and 5 Stiglingh Street was to be pruned they were busy with the one in front of her house which is number two. According to McIntyre she would understand that they have to prune the trees at the numbers on the job card, which is on the opposite side of the street, because their branches was interfering with the electric cables. Eventually the contractor left.

On Monday they were back again and an angry McIntyre went to confront them once again but the damage was done. Again she demanded to see the job card only to find it is exactly the same job card but now someone wrote in pen at the bottom her address.

McIntyre said she is very upset that the contractors messed up the beautiful giant and did not check to make sure they are at the right address.

Jenny Moodley, City Parks’ spokesperson, said she will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
