More fake cops busted

Police General concerned about trend.

Two former police officers, aged 51 and 54 has been arrested on Tuesday by the West Rand Crime Intelligence unit.

They have been charged with the possession of two unlicensed firearms, police uniforms, blue lights and a jamming device. It is alleged that the two suspects never handed in their uniforms when they quit the force and that they lend their uniforms to their criminal friends.

The two men were allegedly involved in in robberies in Roodepoort, Soweto, Fordsburg and Mpumalanga.

The men are detained in at Roodepoort police station.

The national police commissioner, General Riah Phiyega has expressed her concern about the trend of bogus policeman when another man, an ex-reservist, and his son was also arrested in Eldorado Park the next day. Police uniforms were found in their possession which it is suspected they used for criminal purposes.

Roodepoort Police could not be reached for comment.
