Witpoortjie house shines bright

A normal home in the small suburb turns into a house of lights and glamour at night, intriguing residents as they make their way home.

A double story house transforms from its white walls during the day time to its beautiful overall of bright blue lights just after 6pm. Located near the NG Church Culembeeck, it has become a main topic of discussion when neighbours greet one another in passing.

When the Record stopped to photograph the magnificent lights one night at least ten other couples in commuting home stopped to marvel at it and take photos. Vehicles are regularly parked outside the house at night with their hazard lights switched on as others quickly snap a shot.

Except for the evenings on which the community suffered load shedding recently, it has remained a nightly sight. One man jokingly said it seems a quiet protest against the failing electricity infrastructure.

The lights do not seem to be installed or powered on for a specific reason or in celebration but rather shine bright every night, prickling residents’ curiosity.

The Record has not yet been able to make contact with the owners of the house for comment.

What is your opinion? Is this a beautiful sight or a clear waste of electricity?
