Update: Possible motive for drive-by shooting?

New information regarding the shocking shooting of a Witpoortjie resident last night has come to light.

According to Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Kumahlo the victim was an ex-provincial police captain who resigned a few months ago. Although she did not express this explicitly this might hold an important clue as to the motive of the incident where the suspects shot 15 rounds at the victim.

Kumhalo also said a neighbouring house has a CCTV camera mounted that might contain important footage of the incident.

She said there were conflicting eyewitness accounts regarding the gender of the driver.

Although the identity of the victim is known to the police they did not want to reveal it to the Record.
