R60 000 worth of drugs confiscated

Both suspects were arrested for drug dealing.

Two suspected drug dealers appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after R60 000 worth of drugs and cash was found in their possession.

Roodepoort police arrested two suspected drug dealers following information from the public on Easter weekend.

On Saturday 4 April, while policemen were patrolling and performing stop and search duties, they received information of suspected drug dealers on Periet Street.

When they arrived at the suspected drug house they found two Nigerian nationals and a woman and proceeded to search the house. When the search delivered no incriminating results, they searched a vehicle parked under a carport in the driveway, also finding nothing.

One suspect was searched and an undisclosed amount of cash was found in his underwear. A tube containing drugs that was wrapped in a sock was found on the other man. Further investigation revealed that the tube contained 111 packets of drugs with a street value of R60 000.
