Sorry ladies, but it’s one of those weekends where us men will be glued to the television set.
Yes, a weekend filled with action packed sport is scheduled from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March which includes the Cricket World Cup final, Super Rugby and World Sevens.
• Super Rugby:
The Friday already got off to a cracker as the Hurricanes beat the Rebels 36-12 followed by another Lions victory on the road (this time against the poor performing Reds by 18-17) in Brisbane.
Super Rugby will then continue early on Saturday as the skilled Chiefs welcome the Cheetahs in Hamilton at 5.30am.
Thereafter the SA Conference leaders the Stormers take on the Highlanders in Dunedin at 8.30am followed by the Waratahs and Blues in Sydney at 10.40am. Super Rugby action will then continue at 5pm as the Sharks take on the Force in the Shark Tank followed by the Bulls and Crusaders clash at Loftus Versveld at 7pm.
• World Sevens:
The World Sevens Series kicked-off the Friday and will continue until Sunday at around 2pm.
The Blitzbokke’s campaign starts at 2pm against Argentina. On Saturday they then take on the nippy Japanese as early as 6.10am followed by their last match in the group against France at 11am.
Should they qualify the Blitzbokke could be in action the following day as early as 3.30am.
• Vodacom Cup:
Featuring no Springboks, the Vodacom Cup is seen as a platform for youngsters to show what they’ve got.
The tournament kicked-off two weeks ago with Round 3 commencing on Friday at 7pm as the SWD Eagles welcome regular Currie Cup campaigners Griquas. Other matches commencing at the same time include Welwitschias and Griffons as well as the Border Bulldogs against the Eastern Province Kings.
The next day Western Province face the Sharks followed by the Falcons against Lions, Free State XV against Boland Cavaliers – all at 3pm. Vodacom Cup action will then conclude at 4.30pm when the Bulls welcome the Pumas.
• Other rugby action also taking place over the weekend includes Aviva Premiership and Top 14.
• Motorsport (Formula 1):
Will it be Lewis or Rosberg, maybe an underdog? Well you can find out by viewing the qualifying stage of the Malaysian Grand Prix at 11am on Saturday. The actual race will commence on Sunday at 9am.
• Cricket World Cup:
Will New Zealand continue their outstanding form or stumble against the Aussies on home soil at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in the final?
