Man dies in early morning collision
Man dies in collision, another seriously injured.
A collision early this morning at Hendrik Potgieter and Ontdekkers Road intersection has lead to one man killed and another critically injured.
ER24 Paramedics arrived on the scene and found a light motor vehicle sitting in the middle of the intersection. The rear of the vehicle had torn open upon impact and a bakkie lay 50 metres away on its roof.
ER 24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said two men had been inside the bakkie when the collision occurred. The driver of the vehicle was found to have succumbed to his fatal injuries before the arrival of paramedics.
The male passenger was found lying in the back of the vehicle in a critical condition.
Paramedics carefully removed the patient from the vehicle and provided him with advanced life support.
Once treated, he was transported to a private hospital in Johannesburg for urgent medical care.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but police were on scene for further investigations.
