Since the article in last week’s edition, ‘Keep your municipality accountable’, appeared the record has been inundated with queries from our readers about the countless times the Roodepoort municipality ignored the many requests for proper service delivery from the residents.

The article in itself was very interesting and hopefully some of the councillors and the powers that be read it and realised there is a huge problem, especially surrounding the lack of service delivery. With that being said, the record is not here so sort the problem our on your behalf simply because we do not have all your personal details at hand. The fact that those details remains confidential and cannot be shared with the media is another issue. We can merely report on these issues and try to put pressure on the municipal officials to take notice of your problem.

It is so easy to call them and threaten them with the media but the reality is that the media don’t scare them anymore. They simply don’t care whether they provide service or not. Believe me when I say that we have tried numerous times to assist the community where ever we can, the simple fact that we are only allowed to speak to the spokesperson of that specific department and not to the people who really deals with these problems, doesn’t help either since they only supply the ‘political correct’ answer.

No matter how you look at it, the article provided insight into the timeframe the municipality is supposed to react on your complaint, whether they will actually do it remains to be seen.

We will, however, continue to keep you updated with the latest news. Feel free to visit the Facebook and Twitter pages to get you news fix.
Until next week, take care of one another.
