Commuters witness man being hit by train

Shocked commuters stood around the platform after a man allegedly committed suicide by standing in front of a train.

Commuters travelling by train will be late for work after yet another horrific alleged suicide at the Witpoortjie train station in Mindalore earlier this morning.

ER24 paramedics rushed to the scene where they found severed body parts scattered across the railway tracks after a man was hit by a train just before 7am.

An eyewitness told the news that they saw the man walking up and down the platforms before he stepped onto the tracks.

Bystanders initially thought the man was on the wrong side of the station and wanted to take a shortcut to the other side. He then stood still on one of the tracks.

A commuter rushes to the station, not knowing his train will be delayed due to another alleged suicide on the train tracks.

As a train was spotted approaching from a distance, the crowd started screaming and shouting for him to move out of the way.

One eyewitness recalled the moment before he was hit.

“When he lifted his head, the train was right in front of him. Then it was all over.”

Police on scene along with railway personnel denied the news access to the scene.

Another eyewitness gave the news the graphic details of the incident.

He said the man’s body was ripped apart and his intestines and brain were splattered across the walls and platform.

He showed the news a photo of the man’s severed hand laying metres away from his body.
