FC Palmeros aim high

FC Palmeros academy had a successful 2014 but want to better their accomplishments

Training has already started for FC Palmeros soccer team who are out to improve on their successful 2014 campaign. The u/15 team finished third on the division 2 log and the u/17 team finished ninth overall, playing 19 out of their 22 matches.
The u/17 made it all the way to the Plate Final in the Rand Central Development League where they lost to Ruimsig’s ETS football club.

“Even though they didn’t win the game the boys played with the kind of passion we wish our national team would show,” said team spokesperson Samantha-Lisette Carelse.

The team had more good news as six of their players were invited to try-outs for the Rand Central ADP u/17 team and five were successful.
Players from the u/17 team were moved up to the FC Palmeros SAB League team which ended last season 6th on the log. Two weeks ago the team held Wits to a 0-0 draw in their first match of the season.

The team will now be off to Johannesburg where they will be playing in the Joburg Cup competition.
Training for 2015 takes place from Monday to Thursday at 6pm on the outside field at Cecil Payne Stadium in Maraisburg.
“This year we are looking for players from the ages of 13 to 16 years. The 2015 league commences in the first week of March 2015 so there is plenty of time for those who want to join,” said Carelse.

The team offers players a highly qualified staff which includes a head of development, top coaches and a biokinetist.
The team is on the lookout for two additional volunteer coaches for those interested in the positions.
