Petrol price could drop

Petrol prices expected to drop once again

Happy days could be just around the corner for motorists in the country once again.

The petrol price is expected to drop by another R1 according to economist Mike Schüssler of economists.co.za. He told Fin24 this would be the second R1 decline and would bring the whole reduction to over R4 or a saving of R580 per month for the average motorist.

The expected decrease follows the biggest single drop in the price of fuel in 16 years during December last year.
Factors contributing to the fuel price changes included the continual drop in the crude oil prices. Petrol decreased by R1, 27 a liter while diesel decreased by R1, 05 a litre.

Two weeks ago, it appeared to the economist as if petrol prices would drop 25 cents. A week ago, it was 50 cents and now a R1 drop could be more than just a dream.
