Elderly man airlifted after accident
"The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the man to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required."
A man, 64, was found in a critical condition on Ruhamah Drive near Karee Street following an accident on Saturday morning 6 December.
Netcare 911 paramedics and other services responded to the scene and found that a motorcycle and vehicle with a trailer had collided.
The man had sustained critical injuries, Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said in a press statement.
“The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift the man to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required,” she said.
“Traffic was affected as the road was closed down in order for the helicopter to land and take off again after loading the patient,” Steinmann said.
Exact details to the cause of the accident and preceding events remains unknown. Metro police are investigating.
