Editor's note

Wow, what a week it’s been.

It is amazing how many things changed are in just five short years. Not to mention the changes in the way you can connect to the Roodepoort record on a daily basis. So much to learn! But I’m eager and up for the challenge. I took a drive through this beautiful town over the weekend …

I took a drive through this beautiful town over the weekend and the phrase “the more things change, the more they stay the same” came to mind. Now please don’t ask me what all has changed, my head was spinning while trying to see as many things as I could and at the same time I remembered the many functions, events and unfortunately the accidents that I reported on.

I remember that so many people wanted to read the paper on line five years ago and although it is now possible, you also get fresh daily news on the website (Roodepoortrecord) or on twitter @rdptrecord, I am so excited about incorporating technology in the way the journalists report on news.

Newspaper print will probably always be my favourite, but getting breaking news out there on a daily basis makes me feel part of the community and it’s exciting.
Just to send out a reminder, make contact with me either through twitter, the webpage or on facebook, I would like to hear from you.
