Remember the opera in October

The last of Stéfan Louw's opera productions for the season will be staged this October.

Stéfan Louw Productions will stage the last of its Aria! Opera for Everyone productions soon.

For this last set of concerts in October, Louw, who is considered one of the country’s best opera tenors, will be joined on stage by the Aria! Opera Chorus accompanied on piano by Eugene Joubert.

The production is in its fourth consecutive year at the Roodepoort Theatre and to date not a single programme has been repeated. Louw prides himself in staying true to his mission: to bring quality opera to the connoisseur whilst encouraging new audiences to appreciate true opera. His programmes are designed to feature popular as well as lesser-known arias from three or four operas. He then groups these arias together and a narrator tells the story of the opera and how the arias fit into the overall story.

“Louw realised how many talented young opera singers there are who are just not getting enough opportunities to perform on stage,” said his wife and publicist, Marisa Louw.

“Louw hopes to introduce more young talent, carefully selected from among the opera chorus and his singing students, in October.”

The concert on Friday 24 October starts at 8 pm and tickets are available at R120 per person. To reserve your seats call the Joburg City Theatres central reservations on 0861 670 670 or book online at www.roodepoorttheatre.com .
