More earthquakes?

Social media rumours of more earthquakes not to be taken seriously.

Three hours after an earthquake hit central South Africa said to have measured 5.5 on the Richter scale, rumour mongers started spreading panic on social media.

Various unconfirmed warnings of at least two more earthquakes being on its way were shared by people on the various social media platforms.

Michelle Grobelaar of the Council of Geo-Science South Africa laughed the rumours off though.

“I would love to know where they got their information from, ” says Grobelaar.

“No one can predict earthquakes as we do not know enough about them. I am sure the Japanese would love to be able to predict earthquakes,” says Grobelaar with a pinch of humour.
