New Celtic owner seeks blessing

Matlabe Tshabalala met with previous Bloemfontein Celtic owner Petrus Molemela to ask for his blessing.

The new Bloemfontein Celtic owner Matlabe ‘Max’ Tshabalala has met with Celtic Life President Petrus Molemela to seek his blessing as he takes over Phunya Sele Sele.

Tshabalala’s family bought Celtic from Jimmy Augousti on Monday and the Free State businessman paid a special visit to Petrus Molemela who is one of the former owners of the team.

“The reason I decided to visit Ntate Molemela is quite simple. As the previous owner of this club, I saw it fit that I should personally come to see him and inform him about the latest developments at Celtic. And to ask for blessings from him as I start this journey, of course,” Tshabalala explained.

“Our meeting went smoothly and he is happy. I made it clear to him that he should play a role in the club. Celtic is what it is today because of him. He should forever remain part and parcel of this club,” he said.

Tshabalala added that Molemela has been offered a position of Life President at the Free State side.

“Ntate Molemela is now the official Life President of Celtic. We are going to make sure that he occupies one of the offices at our headquarters.

“We are also going to make it possible for him to attend any matches he wants to, even if he has to fly to the games we’ll cover the costs of his flights.”

An excited Molemela thanked Tshabalala for showing respect to him by paying him a “surprise” visit, and he wished the Tshabalalas and the club the best of luck.
