No bad blood between Matlaba and Vermezovic
Rumours that Pirates' coach Vermezovic and fullback Matlaba don't get on are untrue.
Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana fullback Thabo Matlaba says he and Bucs coach Vladimir ‘VV’ Vermezovic are on good terms despite reports of the opposite.
The rumours of bad blood between player and coach surfaced after Matlaba’s representatives announced their negotiations for a new contract at Pirates have been shelved until the end of the season.
Matlaba’s existing deal expires in June 2015 and the livewire left back maintains that he has a good relationship with ‘VV’.
“My relationship with the coach is very good,” Matlaba told KickOff during the launch of Bucs’ new kit at Orlando Stadium last night.
“I don’t know where the reports that we don’t see eye-to-eye come from. He came to work at Pirates and I also came to work at Pirates and why we have to fight?”
Meanwhile, Matlaba is happy with the way Bucs’ pre-season has been going: “Our preparations have been going well and I think we are almost ready for the start of the new season.”
