Maritzburg United may get a foreign import

Khumbulani Banda is hoping to ace his two-week trial at Maritzburg United.

In an attempt to build their squad for the new season, Maritzburg United have given Highlanders FC  left back Khumbulani Banda a two week trial with the hope of securing a deal with the club.

Coach Steve Komphela will be without Rheece Evans and Mario Booysen who have just signed for Mamelodi Sundowns, while Michael Morton starts a new adventure at SuperSport United.

Banda’s trial was confirmed by Highlanders’ chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede. He told Bulawayo24 thathis client was given the green light to try his luck in South Africa.

“He is one of the brilliant players in our squad and when the invite for trials came in, we did not hesitate to approve the trials.”

The 24 year old joined the Highlanders at the beginning of the season and hopes that he has what it takes to break into the Maritzburg United squad.

“Obviously it feels great to be invited to trials in South Africa and I will work hard as I try to impress the Maritzburg United technical team, ” Banda said.

” I believe in myself and I don’t think Highlanders would have signed me if i was not a good player.  I prefer to do the talking on field and I am happy that the club (Highlanders) have given me their blessings.”
