Samsung wipes with a smile

A recent visit to a Samsung customer service center did not leave the customer smiling.

I took my son’s Samsung cellular phone to their customer service center at the Constantia Office Park. The start-up screen got stuck and he could not access any information on the phone.

We received a friendly welcome and the customer relations officer was very helpful. On the form we completed, we indicated that should Samsung need to do a data back-up we would be prepared to pay the R265 fee. The friendly lady assisting us also confirmed this with us.

On collecting the phone one week later, we were not informed that all the data on the phone was wiped off in the repair process nor were we called before the repair was done to inform us that this would be the case. Upon enquiring why a back-up was not done, another friendly lady informed us that unfortunately that was what happened — end of story.

I have no other recourse but to warn other Samsung customers that you might be losing all the applications you paid for, all your memories captured in photographs, your favourite music and all your contacts with a friendly smile from Samsung.
