Mbekile pens Sundowns deal

Club confirms signing of new midfielder.

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Asavela Mbekile from Moroka Swallows.

It was that the midfielder put pen to paper with the reigning 2013/14 Absa Premiership champions in a deal that will tie him to the club for four years.

“In order for me to be the best I have to hold my own against the best and I believe that’s I’m doing by joining Sundowns. I will become a better player here at Sundowns,” Mbekile told Sundowns’ official website.

The 27-year-old went on to admit that the main deciding factor in his decision to move to Chloorkop is down to Sundowns’ participation in the CAF Champions League this year.

“Sundowns is a giant in South African football but that’s not all. There’s the CAF Champions League, which is another exciting thing about joining Sundowns for me,” he added.

“I always want to represent South Africa against other leagues or federations, of which the Champions League presents that platform.”

Mbekile turned out 24 times for Swallows last season, making him the midfielder with the highest caps for the Dube Birds.
