Khune commends Meyiwa season

"Meyiwa deservedly earned another Bafana Bafana call-up."

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has heaped praise on fellow countryman and goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.

Khune picked up the PSL ‘Goalkeeper of the Season’ award for the 2013/14 campaign, but was quick to challenge the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and urged him to up his game for next season.

“Senzo did well this season for his club and deservedly earned another Bafana Bafana call-up. He has kept up the good work on his side and done well for his team, leading them to the Nedbank Cup final and the Nedbank Cup title where he made a number of good saves to keep his side in the game,” said Khune.

“I challenge him next season to work even harder and to try and come for my ‘Goalkeeper of the Season’ trophy. I enjoy the competition which makes me work harder to improve myself.”

Khune added that he was only able to achieve the ‘Goalkeeper of the Season’ award due to hard work and his fellow teammates at Chiefs.

“I was only able to defend my ‘Goalkeeper of the Season’ award because of my hard work and dedication. I am also extremely humbled to receive the award, but I have to give thanks to my teammates who were my pillars of strength throughout the season,” added the Bafana Bafana shot-stopper.
