Dyno Day becomes motor mania

Money raised on the day to benefit Gateway Society.

This year’s TMSS Motorsport Dyno Day was motor mania at its best last Saturday (31 May). To owner and organiser Nishen Moodley and his colleagues the turnout was truly amazing.

Dyno Day functions around a dynometer in an open workshop by which resident test their vehicles’ power. Each participant is asked a fee between R150 and R200 for entering their vehicles and they compete in different classes. The ultimate competition, however, is to find Dyno Day 2014 King and Queen – the man and woman with the strongest cars.

“Average vehicles can do between 180 and 200 kW, but vehicles here today have surpassed 300 kW,” said Moodley.

“We hope to test around a 100 vehicles today.”

When not checking how their vehicles performed on the dynometer, motor enthusiasts socialised over hot dogs and drinks and enjoyed resident DJ Manny’s music.

The approximate total of R15 000 raised will benefit the Gateway Society in Ruimsig.
