Well-known LP Hardware in Anstruther Street was burgled last Friday and the owners Kobus and Sandy Mienie are determined to catch the perpetrator.
The burglary took place just past midnight. Although the Miemies’ store has an alarm that is connected to armed response, the suspect was in and out in approximately three minutes. The security company took nine minutes to get to the scene.
The suspect, a young male, cut through the padlock, broke the two locks and grabbed the complete till. According to Mrs Mienie a substantial amount of money was in the till.
The suspect who did not care to disguise himself was caught on CCTV camera wearing either dark Puma or Nike tracksuit pants and a red hoody top. He has light brown hair and seems to be in his early twenties.
A case was opened with the police and the Mienies say they are waiting for a case number.
A week prior to the incident a house close to the store was robbed at gunpoint, but the suspects were arrested.
