What is the Roodepoort SPCA

Because pets have basic rights too

The Roodepoort Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was founded in 1945.

The Roodepoort SPCA houses stray, lost or abandoned animals. Their inspectors conduct inspections at pet shops, grooming parlours, pet transport agencies, breeders and dog training schools to ensure that conditions are suitable for animals. They also investigate any complaints about cruelty to animals.

They have a veterinary hospital and there is a veterinary surgeon on standby every day for emergencies.

Sterilisation of cats and dogs are performed in the morning, while de-worming and vaccinations take place in the afternoons.

Their adoption process is strict so that animals do not end up at unsuitable homes. The adoption fee includes sterilisation, first

vaccination, de-worming, rabies booster, micro chipping and the ID tag.

If you wish to report an offence you need to provide your name, address and contact details, as well as the names and contact details of any witnesses as well as the offender. Provide a date and time, and a detailed description.

Any complaint made is taken seriously and the complainant’s name is never divulged unless the complainants give their permission.

Roodepoort SPCA can be found at 3 Nadine Street, Maraisburg.
