Controversial Managing Director (MD) of the service entity Pikitup, Amanda Nair has been suspended.

Nair, who was given the boot previously from another government department faces charges regarding a tender worth R263 million.

The charges relate to tender that was allocated to Aqua Transport Plant Hire, which she allocated to them disregarding an audit by Ernest and Young that advised her against it. This audit already cost Pikitup R6 million.

The DA’s spokesperson on matters pertaining to Pikitup, Alan Fuchs told the Record that it is very strange that although leaving the Council under a cloud previously, the administration re-employed her as the MD of Pikitup. It is not only Nair who must face the music and answer the charges, but also those who re-appointed her against good advice.
