Young canoeists receive national colours

Hard work in the sport of canoeing has paid off for two youngsters after they received their national colours during the Gauteng Canoe Union Annual Awards held on Saturday 8 March.

Dugan Afonso, a pupil at Victory House in Florida and David Rodriquez, both members of the Dabulamanzi Canoe Club at Emmarentia Dam were awarded their junior national colours for their selection and participation at the under 23 and Junior World Sprint Championships in Germany during 2013.

The Gauteng Canoe Union prizegiving recognised numerous paddlers’ river, flat water, sprint achievements including international participation, federation and national colours.
