Province has good story to tell, says Premier

Premier fails to say how jobs will be created.

The Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane gave her State of the Province Address (Sopa)  at the opening of the Provincial legislature.

Although she relied strongly on highlighting educational and health successes, the costly service delivery protests, corruption and job creation were the white elephants in the room.

Some positives that residents across the province can look forward to is large monetary injections from both the State (in Bekkersdal) and Chinese (in Moderfontein). The five year overdue Zola Jabulani hospital were also announced to be opened in April. This ending up costing three times the original budget.

Informal Settlements were also on the agenda as future plans include buying up land to the value of R200 million, reducing shacks and the bucket toilet system.

Motorists can look forward to R10 billion being spent on widening both the N12 and N14 national roads.

Shortly after the Premier’s speech, Minister of Sports and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula, lead ANC supporters in a Zulu song that translates into “a cow would first give birth to a human than Maimane taking over Gauteng”.
