JRA and City Parks respond to public’s requests

Residents' calls are heeded after articles in the Record.

Once again it has been proven what could happen when residents, the local newspaper and willing service delivery entities join forces.

The Record received numerous complaints about two issues – the one being about the pothole-littered intersection at the top of Crous Drive at the Westgate bridge, and the second about the Blue Gum tree that was about to keel over onto Ruhamah Drive plus the surrounding bushes that dangerously limited visibility for motorists coming around the corner.

The Record published an article on the tree problem in the 7 February hard copy edition and another article on the potholes on its website looklocal on the same day.

By Monday 10 February the Record was informed that the potholes at the intersection were fixed although the road was not resurfaced, which would have been ideal. On 11 February City Parks’ spokesperson Jenny Moodley also contacted the Record with the good news that three of the culprit trees on Ruhamah have been removed.

When the site was inspected City Parks employees also were busy clearing the weeds and shrubs that affected visibility.

A thank you to the two departments for being public servants in the truest sense of the word.
