Councillor’s hard work pays off

Kruinpark Retirement Village to get frail care unit.

Although one of the most miserable rainy days of the year, 3 February saw the culmination of a project almost 20 years in the making.

Most of those involved humbly wanted to stay anonymous but Councillor Suzanne Clarke deserves a special mention for her unselfish work behind the scenes to help with the dream of a frail care and assisted living wing being added to the Kruinpark Retirement Village.

Unbelievably it took almost 20 years of cutting through all the red tape, struggles with the City of Johannesburg and re-zoning efforts to see this project finally get of the ground.

On the day the weather unfortunately prevented actual labour from starting but all the stakeholders and role players were there to compare notes and make sure construction is off to a good start.

The frail care unit will consist of 34 beds and 54 assisted living units with a 24-hour-a-day medical sister on duty.

The retirement village belongs to ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa.
