Chicken Runners host their beneficiary

Chicken Runners call for public's support.

The Chicken Runners scooter club whose members go on a tour every year to raise money for a good cause, hosted a special morning on 1 February for their little beneficiary, Marco Steyn (2).

DP Print, one of the sponsors of this year’s tour that will see around 26 scooter riders heading for Cape Agulhas, made available their premises for an early morning boerie braai.

The occasion provided an opportunity for riders, sponsors and supporters of the tour to meet little Marco and his mom and dad, Martelize (35) and JC (38).

Marko was diagnosed with Krabbe Disease but has shown remarkable improvement in the past year, so much so that the medical fraternity has labelled it a miracle.

The financial burden for the young family remains heavy though, and over and above what their medical aid covers his day-to-day expenses run into thousands of rands a month, which the Steyns have to pay out of their own pockets.

The Chicken Runners hope that through this year’s tour that takes place at the end of April, they will be able to raise enough money to help the family alleviate their financial burden.

Businesses and members of the public who wish to support the tour can contact Jannie Alberts for more information on 0723110373.
