2014 Two Oceans: Last chance to apply

Runners have until 4pm today (22 Jan) to apply for the entry draw.

Runners still hoping to participate in the 2014 Old Mutual Two Oceans Half Marathon have until 4pm on Wednesday 22 January to update their profile ahead of the entry draw that will take place at 10am this coming Thursday.

This year, in an effort to give runners a fair chance to enter and to alleviate pressure on the online entry system, the organisers introduced a phased approach to the 2014 Half Marathon entry process.

Entries made available during the first four phases sold out within hours of opening, and the fifth and final entry phase – the entry draw – will afford all first-time entrants, previous participants who finished outside the cut-off and those who missed their original entry batch, the opportunity to submit their applications into an entry draw.

The entry draw process

Runners must visit www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/enter to update their personal and medical details and submit their applications for a Half Marathon entry before 4pm on 22 January.

A random electronic draw at 10am on 23 January will select 6 000 entrants who may proceed to pay for their entry.

All applicants will receive an email that will inform them whether or not their application was successful. Successful applicants will have until 4pm on Monday 3 February 2014 to finalise their payment.

Substitutions and charity entries

Runners will have another opportunity to enter the Half Marathon, either by substituting an entrant who can no longer participate, or by joining one of the listed charities and run for a good cause.

This is the first time that selected charity organisations are able to offer additional Half Marathon entries and use the event as a platform for their fundraising efforts.

Runners wishing to run for charity can visit https://www.twooceansmarathon.org.za/information/run-charity for more information.

Entries for the 56km Ultra Marathon still are open and runners can enter online or download an entry form from the website. South African Ultra Marathon entrants are required to belong to a registered running club and have a valid licence. No temporary licences will be issued to Ultra Marathon runners. 2014 Ultra Marathon entries will close on 19 March, or earlier, if the 11 000 entry limit is met before then.

Entries into the 10km and 22km Trail Run are sold out.

Runners may visit www.twooceansmarathon.org.za for the latest event news or contact the organisers on 087 741 2610.
