Protests: Government intervention needed

Concerned Resident (email):

We are now being terrorised by some of the hooligans from the Princess informal settlement in Roodepoort.

Rocks are thrown at our houses at night. The affected houses are within the boundaries of the informal settlement, especially along South Road.

The Johannesburg City authorities need to consider residents around the informal settlement regarding the damage and life-threatening situation caused by this protest.

We pay bonds, rates and services unlike the squatters who in turn cause havoc in the area. The government need to intervene to put an end to situation whatever the protest is about – urgently.

Why is the protest held during the night anyway? They even throw rocks from behind the wall that surrounds the settlement.
