Disgusted about disregard for law

I am writing this letter with total disgust and absolute anger running through my veins – a disgust with certain members of our so-called rainbow nation.

My 66-year-old mother, who was coming to our house to join us at a Carols by Candlelight event at the Botanical Garden on Saturday 30 November was treated with such hatred and disrespect. She stopped at a red traffic light at an intersection in Roodepoort – yes a red light (when I did my driving test a red light meant stop and wait for green) – when some oxygen thieves and useless waste of space members of society started to abuse her verbally and intimidate her.

One driver pulled up right behind her and was revving his car and inching forwards and backwards. He was swearing and using hand gestures. The other driver pulled up next to her, hung out of his window and shook his fists, swearing and shouting at her. His female passenger was glaring at my mom with a look of total hatred.

My mom wound down her window and said, “You might not stop at red traffic lights but I do”. They sped off around her and were halfway down the road before it had turned green. My mom arrived at our home in such a state – she was shaking.

Well all I can say is that I hope these useless members of society end up killing themselves and not some other innocent road user. This country has no hope if we can’t even stick to a simple rule like stopping at a red light or even being courteous and kind to each other on the road. Do these drivers feel more masculine now that they have intimidated a 66-year-old lady?

All I can say is that they are weak-minded little bullies who have absolutely no use in our society. Go and wrap yourselves around a tree before you kill any innocent road users – you useless, oxygen thieves.
