Three-vehicle collision leaves two injured

A resident comes across an accident, paramedic sheds some light.

A Metrobus collided with a motor vehicle after another collision on Third Street on the early evening of Monday 7 October.

A resident has supplied the Record with photographs of the accident where the Metrobus had crashed. ReneƩ Schoeman believes the collision to have occurred at around 5.30pm and that it involved the Metrobus and another vehicle.

An ER24 paramedic confirmed the time of the collision and supplied the Record with the full story.

On the corner of Johannes and Third Streets a motorcycle allegedly collided with a vehicle before the collision with the Metrobus.

“We believe the Metrobus collided with the vehicle as a result of the first collision.

“The motorcycle had T-boned the vehicle and the motorist in the vehicle had to be excavated with the Jaws of Life.”

The paramedic says that the motorist had sustained multiple fractures on his one leg and a head injury, while the biker had less serious injuries. Neither the driver nor the commuters on the bus sustained any serious injuries.

He says that despite ER24 being on scene, other emergency services transported the patients to nearby medical facilities for further care.
