"One patient's arm had to be amputated partially" – ER24.

At least 13 people were injured after a minibus taxi collided with a light motor vehicle at the corner of Constantia Boulevard and Hendrik Potgieter Road on Wednesday morning 31 July.

According to ER24’s Vanessa Jackson, “There were 12 people in the taxi. Three patients suffered severe injuries and had to be transported to hospital. A patient’s arm had to be amputated partially while the other two patients suffered back and neck injuries with possible broken arms.

“The remaining eight passengers including the driver suffered moderate injuries, yet the driver was trapped and had to be freed. The driver of the light motor vehicle suffered minor injuries.

“It seems that the minibus was travelling along Hendrik Potgieter Road towards Flora Clinic when it collided head-on with the light motor vehicle and rolled slightly.”

Medical personnel on the scene were from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) and Joburg Emergency Services.

First to arrive on scene was ER24’s A1 Assist crew who alerted authorities about the accident.
