Since the Record’s Metrobus exposé on 26 July the service entity was contacted three times to get comment.
At first, on the day of publication, the Record was given the runaround. The media spokesperson, Ester Dreyer redirected the Record’s enquiries to Metrobus Managing Director Lawrence Maqoane. Dreyer’s refusal to speak to the Record stems from a misunderstanding between her and a Record journalist last year. Maqoane unfortunately was in a meeting on the day. On 29 July he was not at the office again but this time Dreyer decided to entertain the enquiry after the Record informed her about the hard evidence in its possession.
On 30 July Dreyer told the Record that her department was working on the enquiry and would act accordingly.
This comes after the spokesperson and her management viewed the video footage.
