Clinic in Kromdraai at risk of shutting down

“Clinic staff will stay on duty until the afternoon to wait for water to be delivered. Should it not be delivered, they will have no choice but to suspend services until the situation is rectified,” Maguire explained.

The essential services provided by the clinic in Portion 26, Kromdraai are likely to be jeopardised. The lack of water supply is putting it at risks of being shut down completely.

Ward 39 councillor, Zillah Maguire said the clinic, which sees 60 people on average per day, will be closed to all patients because there is no water to clean and maintain a sanitary healthcare environment.

“Clinic staff will stay on duty until the afternoon to wait for water to be delivered. Should it not be delivered, they will have no choice but to suspend services until the situation is rectified,” Maguire explained.

She further alluded that the shutdown will put the lives of the patients at risk as the majority will not be able to go to other healthcare facilities.

Mogale City Local Municipality has once again been approached for comment regarding the matter and the previous debacle concerning the supply of polluted water. Both media inquiries are still awaiting response.

This is a developing story.
