CPF’s disappointing turnout questioned

Only six out of 16 residents' associations were represented at the CPF meeting last week.

The Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) Sector 2 is appealing to the community to attend the monthly forum meetings to discuss issues related to crime in the policing area.

The plea follows a poor turnout at a recent Sector 2 CPF meeting on 28 September at Honeydew Police Station.

The executive committee led by its chairman, Neville Burnett echoed their disappointment after a few residents associations were represented at the meeting.

“The meeting was poorly attended; only Welview, Devon Valley, RAG14, Panorama, Constantia Village and RiverWel Residents Associations were represented,” said Burnett, adding that this was sad as the sector has 16 RA’s in the area.

“All resident association chairmen should all attend the sector meeting even if they were not affected by crime for the month,” Burnett urged.

Analysing the crime stats for September in the area, Burnett, revealed that there was a reduction in crime, and he attributed the results to more security companies working together and the improved police visibility.

The next Sector 2 CPF meeting will be held on 26 October.
